Local Words of Wisdom - Bromley by Bow

To inform a wider wayfinding project to a new secondary school in Bromley By Bow, I set about forging relationships and collecting words of wisdom from elder members of the community.

Visiting knit clubs, Golden time meetings and a lunch club I spent time talking and crafting with members of the community who had witnessed a great deal of change to their local area. Ensuring their involvement in a project like a newly built secondary school - was about knitting the generations together through activity, conversation and wisdom sharing.

The positive 'words of wisdom' collected are now displayed along the pedestrian route to the new school. And squares from the 'mega-knit challenge' pictured now feature in the entrance gate pictured and subway artwork.

Project completed whilst working at make:good, commissioned by Bow Arts Trust.
